My littlest person is currently on a no meat kick. So we have been working our way through the veggie burgers in the grocery store. You maybe have seen The Beyond Burger in the news they went public with their IPO this year.
Their ingredients appealed to me as it is free, gluten free and made with pea protein. This is the ingredients list on the label :
Water, Pea Protein Isolate*, Expeller-Pressed Canola Oil, Refined Coconut Oil, Rice Protein, Natural Flavors, Cocoa Butter, Mung Bean Protein, Methylcellulose, Potato Starch, Apple Extract, Salt, Potassium Chloride, Vinegar, Lemon Juice Concentrate, Sunflower Lecithin, Pomegranate Fruit Powder, Beet Juice Extract (for color)
I sprayed a pan with some oil and cooked each side for 4 minutes until done. I also smashed them down slightly with my spatula so it would be like a smash burger. I topped them with some vegan cheese replacement from whole foods.
Taste and Texture
The taste got a thumbs up from my kiddo and it got a thumbs up from me also. I hate mushy food and this wasn’t wet or grainy like some veggie burgers we’ve had. I think The Beyond Burger is a great alternative for your non meat eaters and those you want to convert.
Yummy in the Tummy
So, my littles and I pronounced this Burger delicious and definitely worth a repeat. We plan on trying the sausage next week.
Do you do meatless meals at your house ? We try and do at least one a week it definitely cuts down on our food budget. Need help meal planning and prepping check out some of my other post.
